Hello, I'm Ruchir Bakshi, a seasoned consultant, passionate activist, and combat veteran. I specialize in the intersection of human rights and mental health advocacy, driven by a profound commitment to universal equality and well-being.

MISSION STATEMENT

I believe in a world where everyone enjoys equal rights, opportunities, and access to resources that foster a healthy, fulfilling life. Recognizing the intricate connection between human rights and mental health, I understand that social injustices and discrimination can deeply impact mental well-being. My mission is to address these complex challenges by providing bespoke, innovative solutions that empower individuals, organizations, and communities to effect positive change.

  • As a Human Rights Consultant, my work involves promoting, protecting, and advocating for human rights, especially in business operations. My work covers a broad range of human rights issues, including but not limited to labor rights, environmental rights, gender equality, freedom of expression, and the rights of marginalized communities.

I devote much time to researching and analyzing human rights issues and trends to ensure that evidence and best practices inform my recommendations and interventions. This includes analyzing human rights impact assessments, conducting stakeholder consultations, and reviewing relevant policy frameworks and guidelines.

I then develop strategies and recommendations to address human rights issues based on my findings. These recommendations may involve drafting policies or guidelines for organizations to follow, identifying areas for improvement in supply chain management, or providing support and resources to individuals or groups who have experienced human rights violations.

One of the critical aspects of my work is to assess and monitor the human rights impact of businesses and organizations. This involves evaluating businesses' and suppliers' policies and practices to determine whether they comply with international human rights standards, such as the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

I advocate for policy changes or legal reform to address human rights abuses when businesses fail to meet these standards. I also work with other organizations and stakeholders to promote and protect human rights, especially in contexts where marginalized communities are at risk.

In addition, I conduct training and workshops to educate employees and stakeholders on human rights standards and practices. By increasing awareness and understanding of human rights, I can help businesses and organizations create a culture of respect for human rights, which can help prevent future abuses.

Moreover, with the increasing focus on corporate social responsibility, many corporations recognize the need to ensure that their operations and supply chains are not linked to human rights abuses. Human rights consultants can assist corporations in conducting due diligence to identify, prevent, and mitigate human rights risks.

Finally, human rights consultants can help corporations ensure compliance with international human rights standards, which are increasingly becoming the norm in the business world.

Numerous news media publications have highlighted the importance of human rights in business. For example, in 2018, a major tech company faced scrutiny over its involvement with a Chinese supplier accused of labor abuses. Similarly, in 2020, a major apparel company met criticism over its failure to ensure workers in its supply chain were paid a living wage.

Human rights are a moral imperative and critical for businesses' long-term success. By implementing human rights policies and practices, companies can build a positive brand reputation, foster stakeholder trust, and reduce legal and reputational risks.

Furthermore, as the demand for corporate social responsibility continues to grow, it is becoming increasingly crucial for businesses to ensure that their operations and supply chains are free from human rights abuses. Human Rights Consultants can provide valuable support by conducting due diligence, identifying and mitigating risks, and promoting compliance with international human rights standards.

As recent news media publications have shown, human rights violations in business can have severe consequences, including negative media attention, legal challenges, and loss of consumer trust. Human Rights Consultants can help create a more just and equitable world by working with companies and organizations to prevent such violations.

The role of a Human Rights Consultant is crucial in promoting human rights in the business world. By advocating for change, developing best practices, and monitoring compliance, we can ensure that businesses operate responsibly and ethically, benefiting society.
